Changes of mind

While starting filming we did not realize how complicated it was going to be to apply all of our ideas about how a drug-drama film opening should be presented and we found ourselves in serious difficulties with the time limit guideline of two minutes that we had to follow.
In fact, before reaching our final storyboard (published in one of my earlier posts) we had planned to introduce another couple of characters like a schoolmate and protagonist's dealer: according to the initial plan, the movie was still going to start in front of our school's bus stop, but with a dialogue between the main character and a friend of his where the latter is complaining about the fact that his interlocutor is going to play truant for the umpteenth time in a row (the dialogue would allow us to show our use of the 180° rule and the shot-reverse-shot technique).
After the scene that ended up becoming the end of our opening we initially planned to film a phone call directed to the dealer, who was informed by the main character that he needed to buy some more cocaine: when the protagonist was going to be about to reach their meeting point, he would have watched the murder of his dealer by a guy who would then give serious troubles to the new witness.
Although the last part remained in the plot of our movie, we have had to cut all the scenes described above due to the time limit.
